CHW Certificate Scholarship

About the CHW Certificate Scholarship Program

The Minnesota Community Health Worker Alliance, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, is offering scholarships to strengthen and diversify the public health workforce to better meet the needs of under resourced communities in Minnesota by training new Community Health Workers.

Current and incoming CHW Certificate students are eligible to apply for a scholarship that covers tuition and some related costs for up to one year of their CHW Certificate program, up to $3,720 per student. (Please note that higher costs at some schools may result in less than full tuition payments).

Required Qualifications

  • You must have a high school diploma or GED and be a citizen of the United States or be a foreign national, having in your possession a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States (these are not requirements to complete a CHW Certificate, they are required for the scholarship which is funded by HRSA).
  • Eligible degree programs include: CHW Certificate Only
  • In order to meet the goals of this grant, we will not award scholarships to individuals who hold higher U.S. health care licensure with 4 years or more education (e.g. MD, RN, LSW/LICSW, MSW) and/or do not intend to work as a CHW in MN, and/or do not meet grant scholarship criteria for expansion of the public health CHW workforce in MN.

How to Apply

We will begin accepting applications for Fall 2024 on May 1. Priority will be given to applications received before July 7, 2024.

NOTE: This is NOT an application to one of the CHW Certificate Programs. You must be accepted into a college and its CHW Certificate program to be eligible for this scholarship.
