Jaquelyn Chagnon was an intern this year for the Alliance. We were lucky to be able to utilize her skills and passion for Public Health. Here is what she had to say about her experience:
As an intern with the Minnesota Community Health Worker Alliance, I was able to immerse myself within the legislative action committee and work with people from a variety of different backgrounds. I helped to craft Minnesota state bill language that would improve the Community Health Worker (CHW) experience across the state if passed. I was also a part of the background work to prepare for introducing a bill to the state legislature. It was an invaluable experience to see real-world applications of the policy work I’ve been learning about in the classroom. The Alliance and the committee trusted the interns to have large roles in this work and valued all the input and work we put into it. This was the perfect opportunity to learn about how new policy is crafted from a grassroots level with a team that was supportive, engaging, and wanted the interns to receive valuable experience.
Legislative Action Committee Chair Kathleen Call extends a gracious thank you to Jaquelyn for her work:
A heartfelt thank you to Jaquelyn from members of CHW Legislative Action Committee. We benefited greatly from Jaquelyn’s contribution to our efforts to develop policy and practice solutions that have the potential to sustain the CHW workforce. She worked on a variety of tasks demonstrating tremendous organizational skills, independence and enthusiasm. She will be missed!
