Job Title: Workforce Development Coordinator

Overview:

The Minnesota Community Health Worker Alliance is a statewide health equity organization. The mission of the Alliance is optimal health outcomes for all and we achieve this mission by promoting Community Health Worker (CHW) strategies.

The Minnesota Community Health Worker Alliance is seeking a full-time CHW Workforce Development Coordinator. This position plays a crucial role in building partnerships around and awareness of health equity and CHW strategies and expanding the CHW workforce across Minnesota through outreach and partner engagement. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational, communication, and change management skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The person performing in this position must have a natural affinity for cultivating relationships, a high level of integrity, credibility, and sound judgement, and have a passion for health equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Employer and CHW Apprenticeship Training and Outreach
    • Educate communities on the services available within the Alliance to support workforce development opportunities including funding opportunities, CHW Supervisor Training, CHW Training, and apprenticeship programs.
    • Coordinate technical assistance services with the Alliance team.
    • Attend outreach events and support community education opportunities like conferences where workforce development materials can be disseminated.
    • Connect CHWs and potential CHW employers with MNCHWA education and training programs including financial resources to support the apprenticeship program.
    • Provide support to organizations completing the registered apprenticeship process.
    • Coordinate CHW awareness and public health education efforts on the role and scope of practice for CHWs in Minnesota, especially as it relates to CHW programs being implemented across non-clinical settings.
    • Provide administrative support on communications and outreach activities and projects.
    • Conduct research to determine prospective employers for CHWs in each region of Minnesota including mapping out potential clinical, public health, community organizations, and non-traditional employers.
  • Administrative Support and Coordination
    • Initiate and coordinate communications with partners and stakeholders and manage the relationship database to track partners.
    • Prepare meeting agendas, materials, and minutes for key meetings.
    • Serve as a point of contact for internship and apprenticeship inquiries and requests from CHWs, CHW students, partners and stakeholders in Minnesota, ensuring timely and professional responses.
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support the organization’s programming.
    • Coordinate Alliance workforce development work with the rest of the team.
    • Assist with team meetings, trainings, and other events as needed.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by promoting effective communication and teamwork.
    • Assist in the preparation of documents, reports, and presentations as needed.
    • Maintain organized filing systems, both electronic and physical, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
    • Other tasks as requested.

Reporting Requirements:

This position is supervised by the CHW Workforce Development Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
  • Ability to work remotely.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Travel up to 30%.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience as a Community Health Worker Supervisor, or 2-3 years of experience working as a CHW. CHWs must be a CHW Certificate Holder, having completed the CHW Certificate program at an approved Minnesota institute of higher education.
  • The person performing this position must have knowledge of CHWs working as part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals and CHW utilization.
  • The person performing this position must have knowledge of health equity and the social determinants of health.
  • Familiar with health, human, and social service challenges affecting underserved communities across Minnesota including, but not limited to financial barriers.
  • Experience living in and serving underserved metro and/or rural communities preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of conflict resolution techniques, and ability to interact professionally with CHWs, CHW students, partners, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed for work within Minnesota.

  • Salary range of $65,000-$75,000/yr commensurate with experience.
