How long have you been on the board for MNCHWA?
I am a founding board member, our first meeting was held on May 16, 2012.
What do you enjoy about being on the board?
I am energized by the passion of CHWs and those that hire them to make a difference in the lives of others by reaching into the community and doing what it takes to meet their needs.
Why do you believe CHWs are integral to health equity?
Because they represent the communities they serve, they understand the needs of their patients and their families. They offer more than just medical care – they offer advice, guidance, and hope.
What are your hopes for the Alliance or CHW field in the next few years?
I want to see CHWs as employees in a variety of settings, not just health care. I want employers to realize the value of a CHW and I want our CHWs to earn a living wage with benefits.
