Join us September 24th at Noon for the second event in our CHW Voices in Data series! This virtual gathering is an opportunity for Community Health Workers to share their perspectives on how CHW Certificate data (enrollment, graduation, demographic information) is contextualized, interpreted, and used to understand the CHW workforce in Minnesota.
We’ll explore what this data can and cannot tell us, discuss ways to make the information more meaningful, and gather feedback on the CHW Certificate process more broadly. Your lived experience and expertise are essential in helping ensure that CHW data reflects the realities of the field.

10/5/2026 | Noon-1:00pm | Lunch and Learn: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Join us for a Lunch and Learn session with the American Cancer Society! This session will equip CHWs with practical knowledge about breast cancer, including risk factors, signs and symptoms, screening, early detection, and ways to address common barriers and misconceptions. Participants will learn how to educate community members and connect them with appropriate screening and support resources.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify breast cancer risk factors, signs, symptoms, and the importance of early detection.
- Describe breast cancer screening recommendations and key messages for community education.
- Identify strategies CHWs can use to address screening barriers and connect individuals to resources.

10/14/2026 | 3:00-4:30pm | October CHW Circle: Making Connections for Diabetes Prevention and Management
Please consider joining this session facilitated by the Minnesota Department of Health Diabetes team. The session will focus on CHWs’ roles in diabetes prevention and management. Featured materials include training modules, billing and reimbursement resources, and practical tools to support chronic disease education, self-management, and connections to care. Participants can expect to engage with CHW peers and apply their knowledge & experience to various scenarios working with people with or at risk for diabetes.
After this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the role of CHWs in diabetes prevention and management
- Identify learning opportunities, including learning modules and the billing toolkit
- Understand shared risk and protective factors for cardiometabolic conditions, including Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
