The Costs of Disruption

🌐The Costs of Disruption

The CDC’s Community Health Workers for COVID Response and Resilient Communities (CCR) initiative provided substantial funding to state, local, and tribal entities to scale up the Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce. However, the extent to which recipient organizations built internal capacity and sustainable infrastructure to support CHWs long-term remained unexamined.

This study evaluated organizational capacity building across CCR recipient organizations. Researchers analyzed structural adaptations, administrative mechanisms, supportive supervision, training pipelines, and cross-sector partnerships established during the grant period to identify key drivers of successful CHW integration.
