In their role as teachers, Community Health Workers often discuss health-related topics with their clients.  Having a basic knowledge of major body systems, including the purpose, organs, and normal processes can be helpful in educating clients about healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.

Facilitated by Teresina Simmons (Nurse Terri), the systems overview features the CHW Learning Lab with CHW Kimberly Miller, anatomy professor Lew Milner, and pediatrician Dr. Mark Redding.  Using plain, simple language, the Learning Lab team explains each system using definitions, processes, and examples that CHWs will find useful in client education.  The workshop covers the cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, immune, and nervous systems.
